I was looking for a nursing school with an LPN program, but some other schools in the area wanted a lot of prerequisites and gen-eds finished before I could start the program. At BTC I didn’t have to have any of those; I could do it all together as one, which made the program quicker and more convenient for me.

There were definitely some late nights, but being a full-time mom and full-time student and having a life in general, I think anyone else can do it.

At BTC I didn’t have to have any of those; I could do it all together as one, which made the program quicker and more convenient for me. BTC’s LPN program didn’t start for another few months, so I went ahead and started the Medical Assistant program to get more nursing experience. This allowed me to get started with school right away because I knew if I didn’t stick to my goal and start now I wouldn’t come back. Plus, the MA program gave me more experience because I learned all about shots and the nursing side, and I got that administrative side of the nursing field.
There were definitely some late nights, but being a full-time mom and full-time student and having a life in general, I think anyone else can do it.
Now that I’ve finished the MA program I am working as a Medical Assistant while also taking classes for the LPN program and so far it is working great. I can take the classes I want and have a steady work schedule because BTC has it all planned out before I even sign up for classes. I know what day, what time, and for how long I will be in classes, and even when the final exam is, so I can plan out the whole semester with work. I have had a great experience so far, I mean I wouldn’t be continuing with the LPN program if I didn’t have a positive experience with the MA program.”

She had a long stay in the hospital and we encountered many different types of nurses. Some who loved their job and gave excellent care as well as some that were at the other end of the spectrum. "I think it was helpful to do the LPN program and then come back for the Bridge program because with the skill set that I learned in the LPN program, I was able to put it to use at a clinic and really practice it. Then when I got to the RN program I was so ready to do it, and there was so much of the practical knowledge that I knew already that made it a lot easier for me."
