BTC Launches New LPN Program Path Option

Posted on July 18, 2024

Bolivar Technical College (BTC) is excited to announce an expansion to our Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program, offering students more flexibility than ever before. In response to student feedback and the growing need for adaptable educational pathways, BTC now provides two options for completing the LPN program: a 12-month path with students in class or clinicals three to four days per week, and a 16-month path with students in class or clinicals only two to three days per week. Additionally, we were approved to increase capacity for the LPN program, adding 15 more spots per yearly cohort, allowing a total of 56 students to enroll in the LPN program each year.

“The healthcare field is continually evolving, and so are the needs of our students,” said Charlotte Gray, President of BTC. We understand that balancing nursing school, work and personal lives can be challenging. By offering these two options, we hope to accommodate a broader range of students, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their nursing career in a manner that best fits their lifestyle and commitments.”

Both the 12-month and 16-month paths deliver the same comprehensive curriculum, ensuring that all students receive the same high-quality education and training. The difference lies in the pacing of the courses:

12-Month Path: This option is ideal for students who can commit to a more intensive schedule and wish to enter the workforce as quickly as possible. Students will be in class and clinical three to four days per week for three semesters.

16-Month Path: This option provides a more gradual pace, allowing students to complete their classes and clinical experiences over a longer period. It’s perfect for those who need to balance their studies with other responsibilities, such as work or family. Students will be in class and clinical two to three days per week for four semesters.

Same Excellence, Different Pace

Regardless of the chosen path, students will benefit from BTC’s commitment to excellence in nursing education. Recognized as a top-ranked Missouri LPN program by PracticalNursing.org, BTC’s program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and clinical experience needed to excel as an LPN. Graduates will be well-prepared to pass the NCLEX-PN exam and enter the workforce with confidence.

Enrollment for both the 12-month and 16-month LPN program that begins in January is now open. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the our admissions office (417-777-5062) for more information on program details, application requirements and deadlines before seats fill.

This introduction of flexible options for the LPN program marks a significant step forward in accommodating the diverse needs of today’s student population. With the added capacity and new program structures, we are more committed than ever to supporting educational journeys and helping students achieve their career goals in nursing.
