Announcing the newest class of Practical Nursing (LPN) graduates!
Posted on January 11, 2023
For 10 students at Bolivar Technical College, their dreams became a reality on December 18, 2022, as they graduated from the Practical Nursing (LPN) program! The commencement ceremony took place at Bolivar High School with friends, family, and BTC alumni celebrating the graduates. The Guest Speaker was Shawn Mock, LPN Program Coordinator; the Student Speaker was Madison Guill, LPN graduate; and the Invocation and Benediction were read by Cynthia Hignight and Adam Kinnard, LPN graduates.
The Practical Nursing students completed the immersive one-year program that equips students with skills and knowledge needed for a career in nursing. During their three semesters in the program, students were challenged and practiced their skills in a variety of settings. First, concepts were learned in the classroom. Then students moved into the BTC Skills & Simulation Center where they could practice skills safely on high-fidelity simulation manikins. Students also spent hundreds of hours in hospitals, long term care facilities, and other clinical facilities providing care for real patients with a wide variety of needs.
The Practical Nursing graduates are: (top row, left to right) Madison Guill, Cynthia Hignight, Rachael Hargus, Manesha Long, (middle row, left to right) Savannah Clair, Adam Kinnard, Chanceler Pemberton, (front row, left to right) Taylor Townsend, Brenna Horton, and Kylee Fredrickson.
These graduates will be taking the national licensure exam, the NCLEX, in the weeks ahead and begin working as LPNs. Some graduates are also choosing to further their education in the one-year RN Bridge program at BTC that begins in May.
