Kasey Carns: Navigating Growth and Change in Nursing 

Kasey Carns embarked on her nursing journey by graduating from BTC’s RN program in 2020, setting the stage for a career marked by growth and exploration. Following her graduation, Kasey obtained her BSN from Chamberlain University in 2022, equipping her with the knowledge and confidence to excel in various nursing roles. 

Her career trajectory reflects the ever-evolving nature of nursing. Kasey’s initial experiences at Mercy Hospital and CMH’s Parkview Geriatric Wellness unit laid the foundation for her transition to the research department, where she now contributes to groundbreaking Alzheimer’s medication trials. Through each role, Kasey has embraced challenges, honed her skills, and discovered new passions within the field. 

Reflecting on her journey, Kasey emphasizes the rewarding nature of nursing and the profound impact it has on individuals’ lives. From finding her footing as a new nurse in a bustling hospital to blossoming into a confident charge nurse, Kasey’s experiences underscore the transformative power of perseverance and dedication in nursing. 


Ann Benson: Embracing Resilience and Compassion 

Ann Benson’s nursing journey epitomizes resilience and adaptability, particularly amid unprecedented challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. As a charge nurse at The Maples, Ann’s dedication to patient care shines through, embodying the compassionate spirit that defines the nursing profession. 

Inspired by her experiences caring for her mother during her final days, Ann’s decision to pursue nursing was rooted in a deep-seated desire to make a difference in others’ lives. From navigating the complexities of pandemic-era nursing to fostering genuine connections with patients, Ann’s journey serves as a testament to the enduring impact of compassion and dedication in nursing. 


Anne Lally: Embracing Versatility and Lifelong Learning 

Anne Lally’s nursing career is characterized by versatility and a commitment to lifelong learning. From participating in CMH’s Residency Nursing Program to working across various units as part of the Float Pool, Anne’s journey reflects the diverse opportunities available within nursing. 

Driven by a desire to emulate the compassionate care she witnessed during her father’s passing, Anne’s dedication to her patients is unwavering. Whether caring for geriatric patients or supporting clinical trials, Anne approaches each opportunity with empathy and a thirst for knowledge, embodying the spirit of continuous growth that defines nursing practice. 


Shari Rush: Advocating for Patients and Fostering Growth 

Shari Rush’s nursing journey is marked by advocacy, resilience, and a passion for patient care. As a psychiatric nurse, correctional nurse, and in-home nurse, Shari’s dedication to serving underserved populations underscores the far-reaching impact of nursing beyond traditional healthcare settings. 

Motivated by her grandmother’s legacy and a desire to show her children the importance of resilience, Shari’s commitment to her patients is unwavering. From initiating HIV treatment programs to advocating for inmates’ health, Shari’s nursing career exemplifies the transformative power of compassion and advocacy in nursing practice. 


Amber Brown: Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Growth 

Amber Brown’s nursing journey is a testament to resilience, faith, and the transformative power of perseverance. Overcoming personal challenges, Amber embarked on her nursing career with a steadfast commitment to patient care and a desire to make a meaningful difference in others’ lives. 

From her early experiences as a charge nurse to her current role as Nursing Supervisor Medical Lead, Amber’s journey is marked by growth and unwavering dedication. Through her resilience and commitment to patient care, Amber embodies the spirit of nursing excellence and serves as an inspiration to aspiring nurses.
